Joint Replacement Surgery

Joint replacement patients are some of the happiest we have after surgery. Also known as arthroplasty or adult reconstruction, this surgery is used to correct advanced arthritis that has not responded to conservative care.

When this happens, the arthritic joint is painful and inflamed. In its advanced stages, bone grinds on bone. With joint replacement, the bone-on-bone grind is repaired by restoring the contact surface with implants.

When grinding is prevented, pain is dramatically reduced and quality of life is restored.

Examples of arthroplasty:

  • Total knee replacement
  • Total hip replacement
  • Total shoulder replacement
  • Joint resurfacing
  • Partial joint replacements, like unicompartmental knee replacement

Post-operative outcomes for these procedures are reliably excellent.
